How can I offer my own footage?

First of all you have got to open up a new account. Then you add the clips by entering a title, some keywords and the desired selling price. Next you upload the clips via FTP on the Interclips server. Alternatively you can send us the clips via CD or DVD per Email (Without additional fee) or tape (additional fees apply). The clip is now going to be checked and activated.
If you have a Windows PC you can use the Interclips Footage Lister to gather the clip data offline and transfer your clips with a single click onto the Interclips servers.

How high is the comission?

Stock footage sellers receive 60% of the net price less of transaction costs, accounting office costs, encashment costs and credit voucher costs (Updated: 1/2008).

Are there any current costs?

Standard sellers can offer their clips for free. Only if your material has successfully been sold we keep the mentioned comission. If you want to be a premium seller (lots of more options) you have to pay a small fee.

Who is allowed to sell footage?

Every copyright owner is allowed to sell his own footage.

What do I have to do to offer my clips at Interclips?

Interclips is an open portal, every professional cameraman or videoproducer can offer his own clips. Please read our Terms and Conditions for Footage sellers! Then you have to open up an account.

How high should a price for a clip be?

Right now the minimum price for a clip is 19.95 EUR. If your clip is really special you should name a higher price for it. There isn't any price limit.

What kind of videos should I upload?

Interclips is interested in various clips. Due tue a limitation of serverspace we have to limit the clips and sort them out. To help you and give you a little guidance concerning what we are looking for, we have a little overview for you.
Besides technical chriterias Interclips also looks at the content. Here you can find our criterias .

What kind of clips am I allowed to offer?

As a footage seller you have some duties to be aware of. To avoid trouble with the law, please take the following points in consideration. We have to tell you that the following is no explicit law guidance. Furthermore we do not take the responsibility for any law problems.

  • You are only allowed to provide footage you have made yourself
  • Clips, which usage rights you have already sold are not allowed
  • Recordings of pictures or other videos are not allowed
  • TV clippings are not allowed - not even as a record in TV
  • Clips from any other Footage Provider are not allowed
  • You are only allowed to use license free music
  • You are responsible for the rights of the music and sounds you are using of third persons
  • Pornographic, racist or embarrassing clips are not allowed

Does the copyright of the clips remain my own?

Yes. Interclips is only a platform to sell your footage. But you can of course still use any other way to provide your copyright.

What does " Royalty-free" mean?

  • They buyer has to pay only once and can use the footage as often as he wants.
  • Except of the "one time" royalty costs there aren't any other license costs.
  • The Royalty-free license is only valid for the downloaded clip, for which a buyer has received the link after he has ordered the clip
  • Buyers can use the clips in commercial and non commercial projects.
  • Only the buyer or a person acting in his will is allowed to use the bought clips.

How do I get to know when a clip has been sold ?

The order is done on Interclips. The buyer receives the bill. As soon as Interclips receives the payment, you receive an E-mail about the order and your online account shows that you have sold a clip. Please note that between the order and the payment of a client can be a time spread of 8 weeks.

How do I receive my payments?

Payments are being made every month on your Paypal account. Payments are being done in the mid of the following month. The minimum amount for a payout is 30,- EUR.

I am creating 3D animations. Is it possible to sell them too?

You can offer broadcastable animations in the section "Animations/FX".

How to send the clips to Interclips ?

Footage sellers can encode and upload their clips on their own or send them via mail to interclips. If you do not want to spend the time on encoding you can also send us the tapes. The Interclips team then takes care of the encoding and also of the clip choice if you want us to. Look at our encoding service....

How do I upload my videos?

Transfer your videoclip via FTP software. You can use any FTP client of your choice. For Windows we recommend LeapFTP, WS_FTP and for Mac we recommend Fetch or Transmit. It is also possible to use the Internet Explorer, but it does not have a FTP status information window.
If you have a Windows PC you can use the Interclips Footage Lister to gather the clip data offline and transfer your clips with a single click onto the Interclips servers.

How long does the upload usually take?

The time for the upload is dependent on the size of the video file and on the upstream speed of your internet access. 20-second-videos in DV- or HDV-Quality have a 100 MB size. For a normal DSL-connection (1000kbps Downstream/ 128kbps Upstream) it takes about 30 minutes.

The upload time is too long for me. Are there any other possibilities?

You can also send us your files on CD, DVD, HD-DVD, Bluray or any USB harddrive. Then we put your videos onto the server. Alternatively you can send us copies of your mastertapes via mail. There's an additional arrangement fee then.

When do I need a Model- or Property Release contract?

For every perceivable person or voice in a videoclip you need a Model-Release contract. Here you can find a sample of such a contract . Without such a contract we have to deny clips with perceivable persons or voices.

If there is any music or sound there also has to be a license for it. Clips with music in it which needs a license will also be denied. clips with brandmarks, logos or any other sings need a Property Release Contract. Here you can find a sample of such a contract .

A clip was denied by Interclips. Why?

We always give a reason why we deny a clip :

  • Denial for editorial reasons: Interclips is interested in various clips. Due to limited server spave we have to limit the offering to those videos of wich we think that the users have the most use for. To help you choosing which kind of material we are looking for we have taken down some guideline notes.
  • Denial for technical reasons :
    Maybe the clip doesn't fit into our technical specifications. Please read them in order to produce the clip in the correct file format.
 

I just uploaded a clip. What's next?

Login to your Onlineaccount. At "Clips in process " you can see the uploaded clips. Click on the link "Check now ". The chosen clip will now automatically been checked concerning our technical specifications. Then there follows a manual check by Interclips. If you want to keep track on the status you yan look at "Clips in process " and you will also get an Email note.
