Technical footage requirements

Formal requirements
  • No cut during a clip
  • No cross fading at the beginning or at the end of a clip
  • No masks (e.g. black 16:9 masks around the image etc)
  • No needless adaptation or alienation (Small color changes are admitted)
Technical requirements
  1. Duration:
    Each clip must be between 5 and 60 seconds.
  2. File container format:
    Interclips accepts Videos in the Quicktime format (.mov), due to a better comptibility between Apple and Windows workstations. Most of the cutting software are able to produce mov-files. Otherwise you should get a Quicktime Pro license. Then your Quicktime Player can create videos in the .mov format.
  3. Video codec:
    The original video format must be PAL, SECAM or any HD format (25, 30, 50 or 60fps). We don't accept NTSC.
    The following videocodecs are being accepted by now:

  4. Audio codec:
    Sound only in exceptional cases! Sound slows down the up- and download process. Please do only offer sound if it fits to the pictures.
    Examples:
    a) Background sound in records of cities-> Drop the sound!
    b) A talking Santa Claus-> Use the sound!

    The following audio codecs are being accepted:

    Quicktime Audio codec:
    Uncompressed, 16 / 24 /32 / 64 Bit, 44,1 / 48 KHz, Stereo
    32Bit Integer, 44.1 / 48 KHz, Stereo
    24Bit Integer, 44.1 / 48 KHz, Stereo
    MPEG-4 Audio, 44,1 / 48 KHz, Stereo

* H.264 AVC (MPEG 4) Format:

The only MPEG 4 codec allowed is the MPEG 4 Part 10 (also called MPEG 4 AVC, H.264 AVC or H.264 in Quicktime).
Please set the number of keyframes to the maximum number (like "All" for example).
Set the quality settings to 75 to 80 percent.
